The Stranger’s Fashion Contest Submission
My submission for a fashion contest for Seattle's The Stranger. Although, it was not chosen for to be featured I will add more necklaces and accessories to my Etsy Shop. I will continue to working with recycled bottle caps!
After moving cities and countries multiple times in the last two years, I have finally settled down. Here in Seattle I am continuing my jewelry design. I got to know my new neighborhood by asking local bars to save their bottle caps for me. I collect them, wash them, and use them for rings, earrings, and hair clips. This necklace is one of the first to launch a new line of necklaces to my ongoing Etsy Shop. Here you’ll notice that my work with bottle caps involve a mixture of embroidery and color. The bold colors are reminiscent of my childhood in Mexico, collecting bottle caps at parties and braiding friendship bracelets. The intricate work pulls together everyday outfits and recycles the caps from last Friday’s happy hour.
